Things to do & see in the Highlands of Scotland
If you are looking for peace and tranquility with outdoor activities on the doorstep, this is the place to come. Hill-walking and the Wild Cat Trails, golfing and horse riding are all within a couple of minutes, while water sports at Loch Insh, Mountain Biking at Laggan and winter sports at Aviemore are within fifteen minutes. Other attractions in Newtonmore include the Highland Folk Museum, the Clan Macpherson Museum and the Waltzing Waters. “Monarch of the Glen” was filmed in and around Newtonmore and based at Ardverikie Castle. There are many woodland walks around the village - The Wilcat Trail is 9 km of beautiful scenery whichhas very good upkeep of the paths. There are other walks along old droving roads and there is access into the Mondadhliath and Cairngorm Mountains. Sporting facilities include an 18-hole golf course on our door step, outdoor free to use tennis courts bowling green. The pony trekking centre is on the outskirts of the village. Access to the Cairngorm and Lecht ski centres. Newtonmore is on the national Cycle Route 7 (Glasgow to Inverness) including off road route to Wolf Trax a world class mountain bike centre. Greenways' central location means you are also only a two minute walk from the shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés. |
